Pa of crime group leader in Albay gunned down

LEGAZPI CITY – The father of the notorious organized crime group’s leader was gunned down by still unidentified perpetrator in Libon town in Albay province, police said Saturday.

Ramon Concepcion, husband of a village captain in Libon and father of “Concepcion Group” leader Gilbert Concepcion, was killed in front of his house in the remote Barangay (village) Molosbolos at midnight Friday.

“Right now, we still don’t have suspects and we don’t know how many are responsible,” Senior Inspector Arthur Gomez, Albay police spokesperson, said.

“The Philippine National Police will coordinate with the army to able to reach the crime scene,” Gomez said. It is still not clear whether the shooting incident was connected to Concepcion Group or drugs.

In 2012, the victim’s son and his organized crime group was allegedly responsible for the murder of Makati City Engineer Nelson Morales who was planning to run for mayor of Malinao, Albay. The group was also allegedly responsible for the ambush of Supt. Romeo Pillonar in 2015.
