DAGUPAN CITY—Workers in the Ilocos region will get a P27 increase in their daily wages in October.
Wage Order No. RB1-18 would benefit 208,296 workers and employees working in 48,955 establishments in the region, said Salvador Poserio, president of the northern Luzon chapter of the Employers Confederation of the Philippines and a member of the regional tripartite wages and productivity board (RTWPB).
The wage order states that workers of large non-agriculture establishments presently receiving P253 per day will receive a P27 pay increase, while those in medium-sized establishments now earning P253 and P244 will get an increase of P12 and P21 per day, respectively.
Workers in small establishments will expect a P19 increase in their daily pay checks and employees of micro establishments will receive a P16 increase.
Plantation workers will receive a P19 hike per day, while those working in nonplantation sectors of the farming industry will get a P16 pay hike.
Workers in the commercial fishing industry will have an increase of P27 per day.
The last wage increase in the region was granted in June 2012.
Excluded in the increase are the kasambahays (househelps), family drivers, and workers and employees of registered barangay microbusiness enterprises (BMBEs) with certifications of authority.
The new wage order also exempts distressed establishments, new business establishments, retail and service establishments employing not more than 10 workers, and establishments adversely affected by calamities such as natural or human induced disasters.
