OLONGAPO CITY—Heavy downpour triggered landslides and flooded almost all of city’s villages on Friday.

Mayor Rolen Paulino said 16 of the 17 villages were submerged under knee-deep floods at noon, while erosions blocked portions of the national highway in the villages of Barretto and Kalaklan, rendering it impassable.

Paulino also suspended afternoon classes in the city in all levels.

In Zambales province, the Department of Health distributed 4,000 capsules of doxycycline, an antibiotic drug to combat leptospirosis, to communities affected by floods in the towns of Subic and San Felipe.
