BAGUIO CITY — A mobile phone helped save the life of a vendor who was attacked on Thursday night at the Baguio City public market.

Aminollah Maurangsa, 33, a native of Marawi City, survived a shot in the chest because the bullet first struck his cellphone before piercing his body. He is being treated at a local hospital.

Maurangsa was attacked by a masked gunman at 7:40 p.m. in front of a bakery along 1st Kayang Street. Police said he was on a drug watch list. CDG/rga
