Suspect in Cebu teen’s killing shot dead by police

CEBU CITY, Philippines — Police shot dead the cousin of suspected drug lord Rowen “Yawa” Secretaria in Barangay Ermita, Cebu City, past 8 a.m., Monday.

Rolan Secretaria, one of the suspects in the killing of a 14-year-old high school student in Barangay Pasil last Saturday, allegedly tried to shoot it out with the police, prompting the operatives to neutralize him, said Senior Supt. Joel Doria, director of the Cebu City Police Office.

Rolan was brought to the Cebu City Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.

Recovered from his possession were a .45-caliber pistol, a .28-caliber pistol, and 40 small plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu.

SPO4 Reynaldo Orenes of the Taboan police station said Secretaria’s cousin, brother, and another person were identified as those who killed John Karl Diada.

An hour after Rolan was killed, three other suspects in Diada’s murder surrendered to Captain Felicisimo Rupinta of Barangay Ermita, Cebu City.
