Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II on Monday ordered random drug tests for prosecutors and all officials and employees under the Department of Justice (DOJ).
“For justice to work, we have to work. For the people to believe, we have to see to it that they can believe in our prosecutors. Trust is always earned, it is never demanded,” Aguirre said in his speech during the 119th anniversary of the DOJ.
“We cannot prosecute if we ourselves are tainted by the very drugs we seek to eradicate,” Aguirre added.
Aguirre said all resolutions from the DOJ should be credible and it is important to preserve the integrity of every member of the DOJ. RAM/rga
