Cops kill robbers in Tarlac City school heist

DAGUPAN CITY—Three suspected robbers were killed in a gunbattle with policemen who foiled a school robbery in Tarlac City on Sunday.

The fatalities, who have not yet been identified, were loading sets of computers and other devices into a tricycle when policemen arrived at the Alvindia-Aguso Elementary School at 3:35 a.m., said Senior Supt. Westrimundo Obinque, Tarlac police director.

A village official had tipped off the police, he said.

Senior Insp. Arnel A Cera, police community precinct I chief, said one of the suspects fired at them as he and his team approaced the tricycle, forcing them to fire back.

Seized from the crime scene were a caliber .38 pistol, two sachets of suspected shabu, a hammer and a hack saw. RAM/rga
