A family of six died in an hour-long fire that gutted their house in Marikina around 2 a.m. on Friday.

Supt. Edwin Vargas, the city fire chief, said Gabriela Gatchalian, Justin and Bryan San Juan, and Samantha, Savanna and Allan Alvarado were trapped on the ground floor of their two-story residence on E. De la Paz Street, San Roque.

The family pet, a dog named Solen, was found alive on the second floor, Vargas noted.
