Pangasinan village chief resists arrest, is killed by cops

DAGUPAN CITY — The police shot and killed a barangay (village) chairman in San Carlos City in Pangasinan province on Wednesday (Sept. 21) when he was about to be arrested for two cases.

Lamberto Villa, 41, barangay chairman of Tayambani, allegedly drew a weapon when the police served two arrest warrants at his house at 4:50 a.m., said Supt. Nestor Cusi, San Carlos police chief.

Villa died on the way to a hospital.

The police also arrested Cyrus Gabis, 46, and Wilferigno Co, 30, both Villa’s bodyguards.

In a news conference here, Cusi described Villa as a “high value target.” Found in Villa’s possession were 35 sachets of shabu (methanphethamine hydrochloride) and a .45-pistol.  SFM
