ROXAS City, Philippines—Mayor Angel Alan Celino and his driver were hurt in a vehicular accident in Barangay (village) Ilaya Zarraga, Iloilo City, early Sunday.
Celino fractured his left shoulder when the vehicle he was riding in hit a concrete fence and a post about 4:50 a.m.
Celino, 53, was taken to St. Paul Hospital in Iloilo City.
His driver, Alvin Panatal, 41, suffered minor injuries and was taken to the same hospital.
The mayor was on his way to Iloilo from Roxas City when his Ford van hit the fence and a concrete post at the curved portion of the highway.
