A POLICEMAN was killed when his motorcycle crashed and he was run over by a passenger bus in Makati City on Sunday.

PO1 Michael Jordan Tumbaga, a native of Barangay Abaquid in Danglas, Abra province, died on the spot on the southbound lane of the Magallanes flyover around 2 a.m., investigators said. He was assigned at the National Capital Region Police Office.

Based on the initial investigation of SPO2 Daniel Cempron, Tumbaga was driving a motorcycle (plate number AP 8577) alongside a Cher bus (ABG 4606) when he crashed and ended up being ran over by the rear tire of the bus.

Bus driver Henry Rodriguez, 36, was arrested and would be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.

Rodriguez told the Inquirer that the road was under repair, probably causing the policeman to lose his balance and fall from his motorcycle. He also apologized and said it was the first time he was involved in a fatal road accident. Erika Sauler
