QC, Taguig cops catch ‘high-value’ drug targets

TWO “HIGH-VALUE” drug targets were arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) and Taguig police on Saturday night.

The suspects were identified as Suraida Guiomla and Nasrudin Balabagan, both residents of Upper Bicutan in Taguig City. Originally, the drug transaction was supposed to take place on Timog Avenue, Quezon City, but at the last minute, the two men moved it to the parking lot of a mall in FTI, Taguig City.

The joint operation conducted by the QCPD District Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group and the Taguig City police led to the seizure of P150,000 worth of “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride), two cell phones, different ID cards and a wallet.

The suspects, according to QCPD head Senior Supt. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, were included in the Quezon City police’s Case Operation Plan. Both were considered high-value targets, meaning they could offer for sale a big volume of drugs at a moment’s notice.

Eleazar said the entrapment was proof that the QCPD was serious in its campaign against illegal drugs, even outside the city.

“This again proves how rampant drug trafficking is, with drug dealers operating not only in one city. It also again shows how relentless our antidrug operations are, arresting suspects beyond our jurisdiction in coordination with a local unit,” he added.
