LUCENA CITY, Quezon — Five suspected illegal drug traffickers were arrested at a checkpoint manned by policemen and soldiers in Real town in Quezon province on Saturday night, police said Sunday.
Senior Supt. Antonio Yarra, Quezon police director, said the suspects’ car was stopped at the checkpoint set up in Barangay (village) Kiloloron at 6:30 p.m.
The suspects yielded 10 plastic sachets of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride), weighing 59 grams and worth P110,000.
The suspects — Jerome Morales, 18; Eros Anggan, 20; Eufrocinio Paran, 20; Almera Mancao, 20; and a 17-year-old girl — are residents of Taguig City, according to Yarra.
Police said a “confidential agent” tipped off authorities early afternoon Saturday that a man named “Jerome” and his companions, using a Toyota Corolla sedan, would deliver shabu to his contacts in Real.
Inspector Felix Evidor Jr., Real police chief, described the suspects as “major suppliers” of shabu in his town.
Police said the car that the suspects used was registered to a resident of Baliuag town in Bulacan province. SFM
