Typhoon “Gener” (international name: Malakas) has exited the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), the state weather bureau announced Saturday.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, however, said Gener intensified further as it moved outside PAR.
The advisory said that as of 1 p.m. Saturday, Gener was located at 525 kilometer north of Basco, Batanes.

Meanwhile, the Pagasa said thunderstorm may persist up to two hours in Metro Manila, particularly in the Commonwealth area of Quezon City, Batangas (Rosario Padre Garcia, Lipa), Rizal (Antipolo, Rodriguez, San Mateo), Bulacan (Norzagaray, Doña Remedios), Nueva Ecija (Licab, Guimba, Bongabon), Quezon (Mauban, Sampaloc, Lucban), portions of Tarlac, Zambales, Pampanga, Bataan and Laguna.
It advised the public take precautionary measures against heavy rains, strong winds, lightning and possible flashfloods.
