Transport group leader gunned down in Albay town

LEGAZPI CITY – A transport leader in Albay was gunned down on Saturday morning by two unknown gunmen in a remote village in Daraga town in Albay, report reaching the Albay provincial police said.

Senior Inspector Arthur Gomez, Albay police spokesperson, said victim Oca Magallon, former President of the Albay Jeepney Drivers Association (AJDA), was shot dead by gunmen riding in tandem when he was reportedly playing with a granddaughter outside their residence in Barangay (village) Inarado at around 9 a.m.

The report said Magallon died instantly due to multiple gunshot wounds on his neck and body.

Recovered from the crime scene were empty shells from a caliber .45 and .9mm handgun.

Gomez said Magallon had been receiving death threats according to his relatives.

Police are investigating two possible angles which could have led to the victim’s death. These angles were related to a transport franchising permit released to Magallon and a land dispute. CDG
