Fake MMDA enforcers hijack truck
AFTER impersonating policemen, robbers are now posing as traffic enforcers of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
Four armed men dressed as MMDA traffic enforcers hijacked a truck carrying P1 million worth of kerosene at the University of the Philippines campus in Diliman, Quezon City, on Friday night.
SPO2 Rodrigo Barrameda of the Quezon City Police District said the truck was owned by Kimpur Inc.
The driver of the truck, Grizaldy Basconcillo, said that around 8 p.m., he was driving on C. P. Garcia Road on his way to deliver his cargo in Pasay City when four MMDA traffic enforcers—two of them on motorcycles—flagged him down.
He added that as soon as he pulled over, two of the enforcers who were carrying guns got into the truck, pushed him aside while one of them took over the wheel of the 10-wheel Isuzu Giga (RGM 321).
According to Basconcillo, he was blindfolded and placed inside the truck by the robbers who drove the truck around for what seemed to him like several hours.
At one point, he said the truck stopped and he heard the robbers emptying it of its cargo.
He added that the truck started moving again and after some time, it stopped and the robbers let him out.
Basconcillo said he later discovered that he was on MacArthur Highway in Bocaue, Bulacan.
The police said the driver was able to provide them with the plate number of one of the motorcycles, and that they were currently trying to determine its owner.
