CEBU CITY – Fire gutted an auto surplus and repair shop and a nearby house in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City past 9 a.m. Friday.
No one was reported hurt.
Chief Insp. Ronaldo Orbeta, Cebu provincial fire marshal, said the fire was caused by a spark from welding work inside the shop.
“Someone was doing welding work then the spark fell (into the rubber sheets) and turned into blaze,” he said.
The fire spread throughout the shop and the adjacent house.
Investigators have yet to determine the damage. CDG/rga
