‘Ferdie’ to make landfall in Batanes
TYPHOON “Ferdie” is expected to make landfall in Batanes Group of Islands between 11:00 p.m. Tuesday and 1:00 a.m. Wednesday, state weather bureau said.
In its 11:00 p.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said “Ferdie” was expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between 10:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday.
The typhoon packed maximum sustained winds of up to 220 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 255 kph.
Ferdie was last located at 60 km East of Basco, Batanes and is forecast to move west northwest at 24 kph.
Signal No. 4 is raised over Batanes Group of Islands, while Signal No. 3 is up over Babuyan Group of Islands.
Ilocos Norte, Apayao and Northern Cagayan were placed under Signal No. 2.
