USC booters open U-Games bid
THE 2011 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) tertiary football champions University of San Carlos (USC) opens its campaign in the University Games (Unigames) at 3 p.m. today against the Dipolog Medical Center (DMC) in Roxas City, Capiz.
Some 11 teams including USC are seeing action in the football event.
USC is in Group B along with DMC, the University of the Philippines Dilliman and Ateneo de Manila.
With the grouping, USC head coach Gary Panagsagan said he is very confident that his boys will advance at least to the quarterfinals.
The 11 teams have been divided into three groups — four teams each in Group A and B and three in Group C.
The eliminations will follow a single round-robin format with the top two teams and the second best team advancing to the knockout quarterfinals.
