Maguindanao vice mayor’s drugs, firearms case up for resolution
The Department of Justice (DOJ) has submitted for resolution the criminal case filed against Vice Mayor Abdulwahab Sabal of Maguindanao and three others.
Prosecutor General Claro Arellano said a preliminary investigation will no longer be conducted on the case for illegal possession of firearms, explosives, and dangerous drugs against Sabal, wife Mohanna Sabal, bodyguard Nasser Maulana, and driver Norodin Abas.
The four underwent inquest proceedings Saturday before Senior Assistant State Prosecutor Clarissa Kuong and Assistant State Prosecutor Gino Santiago following their arrest at the Awang Airport in Datu Odin Sinsuat.
They are currently under the custody of the Philippine National Police’s Anti-Illegal Drugs Group in Camp Crame.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre said they are facing a separate investigation on their possible involvement in the Davao City bombing last week. JE/rga
