DILG vows more rehab centers in 2017
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan—More drug rehabilitation centers will be built in 2017 to accommodate the increasing number of drug users who have surrendered to the government, according to Interior Secretary Ismael Sueno.
Foreign psychiatrists and doctors, including professionals with Filipino ancestry, have volunteered to help set up and run these centers, Sueno said on the sidelines of a drug summit held in this Pangasinan capital.
Close to 700,000 people had surrendered but Sueno did not specify how many of them would require rehabilitation for using drugs.
Sueno said a rehabilitation center is being built in Nueva Ecija province. Two others will be built in Luzon while two more will be put up in the Visayas and Mindanao.
