LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines—Smart Telecommunication has issued an advisory that the firm would temporarily shut down their mobile services from 12:00 p.m until 6:00 p.m. on Friday in the interest of public safety in connection with “Traslacion” procession marking the start of the Feast of the Virgin of Peñafrancia.

“We have been instructed by the authorities to temporarily shut down our mobile services from 12nn to 6PM in the interest of public safety,” Ramon Iberto, Smart Public Addairs chief said.

The 6-hour mobile service temporary shutdown would serve as security measure to prevent lawless elements to sow atrocities during Traslacion procession on Friday where thousands of Catholic devotees from across the country would witness the transfer of “Ina,” the patroness of Bicolandia, from the Basilica Minore to the Naga Cathedral for a nine-day novena and Holy Mass, Smart Telco statement said.
