1 dead, 8 hurt in Catanduanes road accident

LEGAZPI CITY, Albay — A man was killed while eight others were hurt when a wayward motorcycle hit a group of students in Virac town in Catanduanes province on Tuesday night, police said.

In a report, Senior Insp. Maria Luisa Calubaquib, information officer of the Bicol regional police, said Giovani de Leon, who was driving a motorcycle, overtook another motorcycle but he lost control of his vehicle and hit the students walking along a road in Barangay (village) Calatagan Proper at 10:10 p.m.

De Leon died while being taken to a hospital in Virac, Calubaquib said.   SFM
