Vice President Leni Robredo on Tuesday met with the officials of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine National Police (PNP) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to assess the status of drug rehabilitation centers in the country.

Representatives from different government agencies, private sectors and the Catholic church taking part in the anti-drug campaign briefed Robredo, Cabinet Secretary Jun Evasco and Interior Secretary Mike Sueno on their efforts in rehabilitating drug users and pushers surrendering to the authorities since President Duterte assumed office.

During the briefing, Robredo thanked Sueno for readily arranging the meeting for the Office of the Vice President.

“I really want to know which area of our office can be of help. Gusto naming malaman saan kami pwedeng pumasok (We want to know where we can come in),” Robredo said.

“Marami nang nagawa but we have to admit marami pang kailangang gawin (A lot has already been done but we have to admit there’s more to be done),” she added.

Latest data from the PNP showed that a total of 687,953 drug personalities, 687,953 users and 48,563 pushers, have surrendered from July 1 to September 6.
