Truck ban passes suspended

THE METROPOLITAN Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is indefinitely suspending the truck ban conduct passes it earlier issued.

MMDA general manager Tim Orbos on Monday said that starting Sept. 8 truck firms and operators should abide by the ban and its window hours on major highways such as C-5 Road, Katipunan Avenue, Congressional Road, Mindanao Avenue and R-10 Road.

The suspension order, however, does not cover trucks under the Terminal Appointment Booking System, which books in advance trucks scheduled to deliver goods in and outside Manila ports.

Orbos said the indefinite suspension would pave the way for an evaluation and assessment by the Interagency Committee on Traffic Management on the ban’s impact on these thoroughfares.
