P8M worth of counterfeit valves seized in QC, Manila
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) seized some P8 million worth of fake Kitz valves and other items in a simultaneous operations in Quezon City and Manila last week.
Raided by NBI-Intellectual Property Rights Division were the following establishments:
-Triple Luck Builder & Industrial Supply 50-B Shorthorn Street, Barangay (village) Bahay Toro, Project 8, Quezon City;
-Akua Union Industrial Corporation;
-No. 1431 Bugallon Street corner Baldwin Street and Unnumbered Structure in front of No. 1431 Sta. Cruz; and
-Bobcats Enterprises and/or Aspen Industrial Sales Corp. and/or Armturen Industrial Sales, Inc and located at Numbers 816, 818 & 820 Reina Regente Street, Binondo
Article continues after this advertisementNBI seized a total of 14,564 assorted pieces of counterfeit Kitz valves, 12 pieces of Y strainer, 21 Kitz levers, 809 Kitz knobs and 435 pieces tags bearing Kitz trademark.
Article continues after this advertisementThe NBI agents conducted test buys to confirm the evidence gathered through Orion Support Incorporated (OSI), a market research firm representing the Intellectual Property Rights of Kitz Corp., one of the world’s leading manufacturers of valves.
OSI and NBI simultaneously conducted several investigative activities to determine the subjects’ illicit activities. The NBI obtained the search warrants from Judge Rainelda H. Estacio-Montesa of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 46, City of Manila.
Charges of trademark infringement under the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines or Republic Act 8293 are being prepared against the owners of the raided establishments. RAM/rga
