KORONADAL CITY, Philippines – Unidentified men riding tandem on a motorbike threw a hand grenade at the house of Vice Mayor Eliazar Jovero of Polomolok, South Cotabato, Saturday night.

Senior Supt. Franklin Alvero, South Cotabato police director, said the grenade attack occurred at about 10 p.m.

Nobody was hurt but the blast shattered the window panes and ceiling of the vice mayor’s home in Barangay Pagalungan.

Jovero told reporters he and his wife were preparing to sleep when the blast occurred.

Alvero said the official told investigators he had no known enemies or political nemesis.

It was the third explosion since last August to hit Polomolok, about 50 kilometers east of Koronadal City.

On August 21, a grenade was lobbed inside a videoke bar in Barangay Magsaysay that left one woman hurt.

About two hours later, an improvised bomb exploded beside a parked cargo truck in Barangay Poblacion. Nobody was hurt.
