The Department of Justice has convened a task force to conduct a parallel investigation into the Davao City bombings.

The panel will be composed of DOJ officials, National Bureau of Investigation agents and prosecutors, Secretary Vitaliano N. Aguirre II said in a text message on Saturday.

In a separate statement, Aguirre condemned the deadly blast and vowed to mete the corresponding punishment to the “perpetrators” behind the blasts.

“We cannot let this pass. We will cooperate with the other law enforcement agencies on this concerted effort to flesh out the persons responsible,” he said. “We have a common enemy, it will be defeated by our collective action.”

Aguirre also said he has shelled out his personal funds to start a fund drive by the employees of DoJ and its attached agencies for the benefit of the bombing victims.
