PSG tightens security of Duterte family
DAVAO CITY—The Presidential Security Group (PSG) has stepped up security measures for the First Family, especially for President Duterte’s grandchildren, his son said on Thursday.
Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte said he had made the request to the PSG, fearing that while the Duterte family had been used to threats because of his father’s iron hand treatment of drug gangs in this city when he was mayor, the threats could lead to actual attacks now that Mr. Duterte is President.
Paolo Duterte said the continuing war on drugs launched by his father and the exposés that the President had made on the involvement of government officials, including Sen. Leila de Lima, in the drug trade made his father a target for assassination.
The vice mayor said he had asked the PSG to give priority to the security of his children and that of his siblings, Mayor Sara Duterte and Sebastian.
“I made a special request that the security of our children be intensified,” Paolo said.
He said he was not intimidated by threats and would continue to support his father’s war on drugs to fulfill a campaign promise. Allan Nawal, Inquirer Mindanao
