The government will not hide street dwellers and homeless families during next year’s Miss Universe pageant which will be hosted by the Philippines.

“Ang instruction ni President (Duterte), huwag sila itago,” Social Welfare Secretary Judy Taguiwalo said in a text message.

During the visit of Pope Francis to the country in 2015, street dwellers were allegedly hid from the pontiff, but the DSWD said the homeless families were brought to a government-sponsored “camping activity” in a resort in Batangas.

The other homeless families in Metro Manila were also rounded up and brought to the Boystown in Manila during the Apec Summit in November 2015.
