2 killed in Mandaue City fire

CEBU CITY, Philippines—Two persons were killed in a fire that hit SB Cabahug Street in Barangay (village) Ibabao-Estancia, Mandaue City at 5 a.m. Thursday.

Two bodies were found by fire investigators who were waiting for the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) personnel to examine the remains.

Seven two-storey houses owned by a former Barangay Ibabao-Estancia chairman and by the owner of St. Jude Memorial Homes were destroyed by the fire.

A wake in one chapel had to be transferred to another chapel in front of the fire site. Some of the houses were ancestral homes built in the 1950s.

A display center for coffins was also damaged. RAM/rga
