PNP urges public to give info on cops coddling drug syndicates

Duterte offers P2M bounty on cops protecting drug trade

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday called on the public to help the police in their efforts to cleanse their ranks after President Rodrigo Duterte placed a P2-million bounty on the heads of cops protecting drug syndicates.

“The PNP welcomes the reward offer of President Rodrigo Duterte for any information that will help uncover police personnel behind illegal drug activities,” PNP spokesperson Senior Supt. Dionardo Carlos told the media.

“We urge the people to rally behind this national campaign and help the PNP cleanse its ranks of members who have betrayed the public trust,” he said.

In his speech at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on Monday, Duterte said he will give a P2-million reward to anyone who can give information about the members of PNP protecting drug syndicates.

“I am inclined to place a reward on their head(s), the members of the PNP who are protecting drug syndicates in this country. I am placing on their head(s) P2 million,” Duterte said.

The PNP assured that any information will be strictly confidential and will undergo “rigid validation procedure.”

The PNP may be contacted through its hotline 09178475757 which is available 24/7 to receive and process confidential information.

“We see this as a bold initiative to once and for all rid the organization of errant personnel who are in cahoots with drug syndicates,” Carlos said.

“We are fully aware of the alarming drug situation in the country such that we are giving this national campaign against drugs our complete and unqualified support,” he added./rga
