MMDA taps LRT-2 project contractor to ease traffic woes on Marcos H-way
TO EASE traffic on Marcos Highway, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is turning for help to personnel from the construction company behind the Light Rail Transit-2 (LRT-2) extension project.
Following the creation of the Interagency Committee on Traffic Management (IACT), MMDA General Manager Thomas Orbos said last week that they would deputize DMCI traffic personnel to address congestion on the major road which cuts through the cities of Marikina, Pasig and Antipolo.
“We have to address and ease the traffic situation on Marcos Highway as soon as possible with traffic measures such as the deployment of traffic personnel and come out with a rerouting plan,” Orbos said.
Apart from the ongoing rail extension project which stretches from Ligaya in Pasig City to Masinag in Antipolo City, other causes for heavy traffic on the busy thoroughfare are the pavement improvement works in Barangay Mayamot, Antipolo City, the big volume of vehicles and lack of discipline among motorists.

Orbos said that they would also install six closed circuit television cameras on Marcos Highway to monitor the traffic situation in real time.
