Typhoon “Dindo” (international name: “Lionrock”) maintained its strength as it continued to move away from the Philippine area of responsibility, the state weather bureau said on Saturday.
In its 5 p.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the typhoon packed maximum sustained winds of 160 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 195 kph.
Dindo was last tracked at 1,315 km east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, and forecast to move east northeast at 15 kph.
Pagasa said monsoon rains would prevail over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and the provinces of Mindoro and Palawan due to the southwest monsoon affecting the western section of Luzon.
The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, while moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest to west will prevail over Luzon and Visayas.
Dindo is expected to exit PAR early Sunday. YG
