Customs chief sends accused exec to Jolo
Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon has reassigned to Mindanao an official accused of taking millions of pesos in bribes.
Special Police Capt. Arnel Baylosis was reassigned to the Sub-Port of Jolo, Port of Zamboanga effective last Tuesday after a corruption case was filed against him in the Department of Justice (DOJ).
His transfer would last “until revoked,” according to the Customs Personnel Order signed by Faeldon.
Baylosis denied the allegations against him, and vowed to clear his name at the proper forum.
“I was never investigated nor issued any order or memorandum to explain the said crime imputed against me,” Baylosis, who has been working at the Bureau of Customs (BOC) for over 35 years, said in a statement.
“I will fight it out to clear my name. I was not given the chance to explain or rebut the allegations hurled against me,” he added. “After sacrificing my life to serve BOC this is what I got for my accomplishment.”
