Man, pregnant woman hurt in Masbate boat shooting

LEGAZPI CITY, Albay — At least two persons, one of them a pregnant woman, were wounded when armed men fired at a passenger boat in Claveria town in Masbate province on Thursday morning, police said.

SPO1 Zandro Cabintoy, public information officer of the Masbate provincial police, said the boat, marked Princess AJ, was on its way to Masbate City, when armed men on a motorized banca attacked, wounding passenger Raul Gueta and an unidentified pregnant woman.

The attack happened off the village of Quezon in Claveria at 11:30 a.m.

Cabintoy said the Claveria police was still establishing the motive for the attack, as of Thursday evening. He did not say how many passengers were on the boat.
