5-year-old girl killed in attack on grandfather in Pangasinan

DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines – A five-year old kindergarten student was killed on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016, by gunmen who were allegedly after her grandfather.

Police said the gunmen barged into the house of Maximo Garcia while he and his family were having lunch. The intruders opened fire and hit Garcia’s granddaughter in the head.

The grandfather fled through the backdoor.

The girl was rushed to the hospital but later died. She was a student of the Dagupan East Central Integrated School.

It was not clear if the attack was drug-related and police have not provided further details.
