De Lima on alleged drug links: ‘Absolute lie’

Senator Leila de Lima denied anew on Wednesday any involvement in illegal drugs, saying allegations linking her to it were “complete falsehood” and “absolute lie.”

“Alam n’yo ‘yung aking mga malalapit na kaibigan tsaka pamilya, ang advice nila sa akin huwag na daw po muna aong nagsasalita tungkol sa issue na ‘yan kasi parang walang katapusan,” de Lima said in an interview with told Senate reporters.

“Ang pwede ko lang masabi ho ngayon (All I can say now is and), I say it again, those accusations against my alleged drug links are complete falsehood and absolute lie,” she said.

De Lima made the remark when sought for comment on President Rodrigo Duterte’s recent statement that he would release a “matrix” showing the senator’s alleged “role” in illegal drugs.

“I will show you, maybe this week the matrix―I’m just validating―the matrix of Muntinlupa connection. De Lima is there… It would show her role there,” the media quoted the President as saying.

De Lima earlier insinuated that the alleged attempts to link her into illegal drugs were probably meant to stop her from investigating the reported extrajudicial killings and summary execution as chair of the Senate committee on justice and human rights.

Despite the allegations hurled at her, the lady senator pushed through with the probe last Monday and Tuesday and even presented witnesses, who implicated some policemen in the deaths of their loved ones involved in drugs. IDL
