PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has renewed his offer to former defense chief Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro to head the Department of National Defense (DND).
Duterte made the announcement in a speech during the oath-taking of military officers in Malacañang on Tuesday.
Duterte said he was mulling to appoint incumbent Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana to an ambassadorial post in a country which he did not specify.
Duterte first offered the DND portfolio to Teodoro last May, but the latter turned it down.
Teodoro, who ran but lost in the 2004 presidential election, served as defense secretary in the administration of former President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo./rga
