BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental — The Philippine Coast Guard in Negros Occidental has cancelled the travel of fastcraft vessels and other ships with gross tonnage below 250 amid strong to gale force winds and very rough seas.
Lt. Jimmy Oliver Vingno, PCG Negros Occidental head, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration issued Gale Warning 2A over Negros Occidental, Guimaras, Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan and Antique about 11 a.m. on Monday.
The warning said fishing boats and other small seacraft were advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels were alerted against big waves.
Vingno said cancelled were 2Go and Weesam fastcraft plying the Negros-Panay route. However, he said the larger Ocean Jet and roll on-roll off vessels continued to operate.
Small fishing vessels were also barred from going out to sea, he added. SFM
