The parameters on who and what positions should be vacated by presidential appointees are still being ironed out, Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II told reporters Monday.

Over the weekend, President Rodrigo Duterte announced that all presidential appointees of previous administrations would be considered resigned.

He issued the order after receiving reports that corruption still exists in various government agencies despite warnings.

Aguirre said the order was still not clear.

“We have not received the particular executive order to that effect but we believe this only concerns the co-terminus employees appointed by the previous administration,” Aguirre said.

He believed that the new appointees will not be covered by Duterte’s orders.

“We would be receiving the EO (executive order) today to clarify who are covered. Steady lang po tayo (Let us stay steady),” he added. RAM/rga
