PHILIPPINE National Police Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa will meet this week with the owners and operators of high-end clubs and bars at Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig and Makati cities to acquaint them with police regulations on illegal drugs.

In an interview with reporters after a meeting with the PNP chief on Friday, Chief Supt. Oscar Albayalde, National Capital Region Police Office head, said the owners and operators would either go to Dela Rosa’s office or he would meet with them at BGC on Wednesday.

Albayalde said the mechanics of an agreement were being worked out to allow the police to monitor the bars and to make it easier for investigators to obtain evidence against drug users and peddlers.

“There’s an understanding that they will agree to be watched and our surveillance and intelligence personnel in plain clothes would be allowed inside the bars to monitor if there are illegal activities. They also agreed that if an incident happened inside, they would provide the police within 24 hours with footage caught by their closed circuit television cameras,” Albayalde said. Jerome Aning
