MANILA — Four drug suspects were killed in an encounter with Quezon City policemen on Sunday afternoon.

An initial report from Supt. Lito Patay, chief of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Batasan Station, said that the exchange of gunfire happened around 4 p.m. in Purok 9 Bagong Silangan, Quezon City.

Policemen from the station’s police community precint (PCP) 4 were reportedly conducting Oplan Tokhang at the residence of suspected drug user Marcelo Daa when he and three other suspects — Raffy Gabo, an alias Anthony and an alias Jess — fired at the authorities.

The cops said they had to fire back at the suspects and ended up killing all of them. Authorities were able to recover from the crime scene two .45  and two .38 firearms, sachets of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and other drug paraphernalia.

Oplan Tokhang is the campaign of the Philippine National Police, wherein cops go to the homes of known drug pushers and users in the area and convince them to surrender or undergo drug rehabilitation.  SFM
