Cop, 2 drug suspects die in Rizal buy-bust

SAN PEDRO CITY – A ranking police officer was killed in an illegal drug buy-bust operation that also left two suspects dead in Antipolo City, Rizal, police said Saturday.

 
Supt. Chitadel Gaoiran, information officer of the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon (CALABARZON) police, said Sr. Inspector Mark Gil Garcia, Special Operation Unit, Provincial Intelligence Branch, was killed in an encounter at 7:35 p.m. Friday during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Inarawan. The operation targeted a suspected drug pusher identified only as alias “William.”

 
But, during the operation, William and a still unidentified companion fired shots at the policemen, hitting Garcia on his right leg. The police retaliated and killed both suspects.

 
Garcia was brought to the Antipolo District Hospital but died while being treated.

The police said they recovered a .38 caliber gun, an improvised weapon and several bullets. CDG
