2 brothers killed in North Cotabato highway attack
PIKIT, North Cotabato—Two siblings, one of them set to get married on Friday, were killed by motorcycle-riding men along the national highway here, police said.
Senior Insp. Joseph Placer, Pikit police chief, identified the victims as Mujaid Adam Husain, 22, a graduate of Islamic Studies course, and his elder brother Abdul Nasser, 45, both residents of Barangay Inug-og here.
Placer, citing investigation report, said the two were on a motorbike heading for Barangay Batulawan for the marriage rites of Mujaid later in the day when attacked by two men riding on separate motorbikes as they approached the village around 8 a.m.
Both siblings died there and then.
Responding policemen recovered empty shells for .45-cal. pistol and 9-mm pistol at the crime scene, Placer said.
Senior Insp. Sindatu Karim, the deputy town police chief, said the elder Husain was listed as the No. 2 most wanted illegal drug suspect here.
