CLARK FREEPORT, Philippines—Nine local flights bound for the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City were diverted to the Clark International Airport (CRK) here on Friday morning due to bad weather, the Clark International Airport Corp. command center said.
The diversion of the flights was ordered by the Manila International Airport Authority, the center said in a bulletin.
Airphil Express flights from Masbate, Catarman and Cagayan De Oro; Cebu Pacific flights from Davao, Caticlan, Busuanga; and Philippine Airlines flights from Zamboanga, Davao and Calbayog landed safely at the tarmac.
The 2,370-hectare aviation complex was reclaimed and rehabilitated by the Philippine government from the Military Airlift Command of the United States’ 13th US Air Force in 1992 following the closure of Clark on orders from the Philippine Senate. RAM/rga
