Drug suspect attending Zumba rehab nabbed after flaunting shabu in wake
MANILA — A 38-year-old drug user who surrendered to the police and who had “faithfully” been attending their barangay’s Zumba drug rehabilitation program, was arrested not only for alarm and scandal but also for flaunting a purse with sachets of shabu during a funeral wake in Barangay Mabini at J. Rizal Street, on Wednesday morning.
The case investigator, PO3 Danilo Patoc of the Mandaluyong City Police’s narcotics unit, said Jonathan Ayaso was arrested around 1 a.m. after causing trouble during the wake.
Patoc said a concerned citizen informed the city mayor’s action command unit about Ayaso, who also challenged the funeral wake goers to call the police.
The barangay (village) officers immediately went to the scene and arrested Ayaso. Bystanders, however, tipped the officers about the illegal drugs on his purse. When frisked, the suspect yielded a Mercury Drug purse with five sachets of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride).
Ayaso is currently detained at the Mandaluyong City Police as of posting time for alarm and scandal charges and for possession of illegal drugs. SFM
