Filipina weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz will receive a hero’s welcome from the Philippine Air Force (PAF) on Thursday.
The Air Force athlete with a rank of Airwoman Second Class will also be promoted to the next higher rank, PAF spokesperson Col. Araus Robert Musico said.

“It’s just welcoming her back after her outstanding display of athletic skill sa (at) Olympics,” he said.
Musico said it would be a simple event with a small motorcade within the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City.
“Mag call back sa commanding general…may pinning para sa promotion niya (There will be a call back to the commanding general and pinning for her promotion),” he said.
Diaz will also get a “surprise” from the Air Force, he added.
The Filipina athlete recently won a silver medal for the women’s 53-kg weightlifting division at the Rio Olympics. RAM
