The southwest monsoon will continue to bring rains in Luzon, the state weather bureau said Tuesday.
Benison Estareja of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said that the southwest monsoon was being enhanced by a low pressure area within the Philippine boundary, located 800 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora.
The LPA is not likely to intensify into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours, he said, and added that the rainy weather would also possibly continue until the weekend.

A severe tropical storm located 2,350 kilometers northeast of extreme Northern Luzon was also pulling the southwest monsoon. The storm with international name Chanthu, packed maximum sustained winds of 100 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 130 kph. A separate report from Panahon.TV said the storm was moving away from the country and had little effect on the prevailing monsoon.
Monsoon rains which may trigger flashfloods and landslides will be experienced over Ilocos region and the provinces of Benguet, Zambales and Bataan. Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms are expected over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains or thunderstorms will be experienced over the rest of the country, Pagasa said.
