Update
ILOILO CITY – Buildings shook for 30 seconds and again for a shorter time moments on Panay and Negros islands after a moderately strong earthquake hit the two islands on Monday evening.
No damage or casualties was reported as of 8:10 p.m.
The Office of Civil Defense in Western Visayas was still getting reports from provincial offices.
The Magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck at 7:32 p.m. with the epicenter located 13 kilometers southeast of Valderrama town in Antique, according to a bulletin issued by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs)issued at 7:38 p.m.
An updated Phivolcs bulletin at 8:05 p.m. showed that the magnitude registered at 5.3.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin, according to the bulletin.
But the United States Geological Survey had this data of the tremor: It was a magnitude 5.4 earthquake with the epicenter 10 kilometers east northeast of San Remigio town in Antique.
The quake was also felt in the province and city of Iloilo and on Boracay Island at the northern tip of Panay Island as well as Negros Occidental.
No power interruption was reported in Antique and Iloilo.
